Aviva Sells Part Of RAC

It was only just over a year ago that Aviva bought the RAC in total. now it has decide to sell off some of its breakdown cover operation and fleet management.

It claims it wants to focus on its financial products.

With Aviva making a reasonable profit last year you can't help thinking it was part of their strategy right from the start. After all it takes time to negotiate a deal for £87m, which is what VT group have paid for part of this breakdown cover company.

It seems unsure to me though exactly what has been sold and what remains. Exactly who does the roadside recovery bit? Aviva or VT group? although the vehicle management part appears to be now sold.

It seems along time ago that the RAC or the Royal Automobile Club has been seen as a motoring club supporting you and me, the general public in all our driving needs.

Lets hope this VT group respect the name of the RAC and see it more as a service to the public than a financial or insurance company.
