A little bit of prevention maintenance of your car can minimise the risk of having to call out for a car mechanic.
According to most motoring organisations, the maximum call outs happen on Monday morning during winters, Friday afternoons, and during school holidays. The chief executive of Britannia Rescue, Malcolm Phillips says: “Drivers should be wary of leaving their cars idle on the driveway for too long, especially over weekends and in the winter months.”
So next time you plan a trip away, ensure that you check your car, turn on the ignition well before you are ready to leave on the holidays. Another important preventive measure is to ensure that you maintain the manufacturers service schedule mentioned in the car book.
Basic checks such as oil and water levels, tyre pressure, wiper blades, and tread depth should be checked regularly. And most importantly, make sure that your car’s battery is in good working condition, as battery problems are the #1 cause of breakdowns!
