In this case it looks like a road sweeper wanted to sweep something other than the road and finds itself in what looks like a ditch. I suppose the ecovery truck is not your normal breakdown cover operator also, but heh! it is all related.
We all need help in times of need and in this case something bigger and heavier was needed to get this roadsweeper on the road again.

A question often asked is what happens about breakdown cover when you lease a car, after all, the car does not belong to you, but the leasing company. Well first most lease cars are bought new and as most manufacturers offer breakdown cover for at least the first year, you are protected. But then it is up to you to make sure you have purchased breakdown cover for that vehicle. If there is a manufacturer issue with the vehicle then you should still be able to return the car to the leasing company, or at least get them to deal with it. But as most callouts for these patrolmen, tend to be things like being locked out or a flat tyre is unlikely that anything a patrolman will do will affect your leasing contract or require any further action to be taken.

However there may be some conditions to do with your leasing contract including damage to the vehicle. So if you have clipped a curb or the paintwork got scratched breaking into your leased car, you may need to get this fixed under the contract of you lease deal.

We accept we should have done this earlier at Christmas time, but we wish all our readers and those who have bought breakdown cover using the links from our site a happy and safe 2009 and hope you don’t need to call out that emergency call out service

Of course there is another set of people we should also recognise and that is those staff, patrolmen, call out engineers and garage owners who have delivered roadside assistance to stricken motorists overt the holiday period, both in the UK and around d the world. Without these guys many motorists would not have seen their relatives, dropped off Christmas presents or done the charity work this Christmas. Whilst we enjoyed our Christmas break, these breakdown cover patrolmen, made sue they did their best to keep us on the road and enjoy our break, even with the inconvenience, when the car we drove decided now was the time to accumulate a fault. To you guys out there we wish you a happy and safe new year, thank you for your hard work.

Actually it took a green flag breakdown cover engineer over 45 minutes and a 5th gear presenter under 1 minute, so what was that about? Well it was an episode of 5th gear talking about a Renault Megane, where it is almost impossible to change a headlight bulb, to the point it recommends you use a dealer to do.

They invited a Green Flag breakdown cover man to do an experiment, where the engineer would get to change the light bulb in the Megane, but the presenter would do the same job on a VW. The results were conclusive, that it just so hard to change the light bulb on the Megane. Quotes for a dealer to do so were up to £250 and more, but in fairness did start from around £30 + vat for one hours labour, as it requires removing certain parts off the car. But who wants to pay £40 to by the time you ad VAT and the price of the light bulb, as who would pay the £250 or so, it is just a silly design.
In the end, the breakdown cover engineer need not have been embarrassed as it clearly is bad design, but you can’t help thinking if it took a trained breakdown cover engineer over 45 minutes to do this job, how long would it take a member of the public, or in fact can it be done at all.

Their argument was the design was this way to achieve its 5 star safety award, but this was quickly crushed as the VW, had the same safety rating. The Green Flag breakdown engineer was a good sport and probably knew the outcome before he started, this was a good example of keeping us infirmed, keep up the good work

If you have decided not to call out the breakdown cover man because you ahve a flat tyre and think you can do it quicker than wait for the recovery vehicle to arrive, here is an instructional video to get you started.

It is not accreditated by any UK based breakdown cover organistation, but does seem to offer a very simple explaination of everything to do with changing that tyre. Of course there is a second point, in that if you don’t understand this video or can’t be bothered to watch, then maybe you should take out that breakdown cover policy today. At least you will have someone to ring, should you need to.

Of course these guys who attend breakdowns are often run off their feet, working in all types of weather (it looks a tyical Scarborough day there) and at all times of the day and night. But obviously they get some perods that are just boring waiting for theat breakdown cover call to come in, this looks just like thats cenario.

Reading his newspaper on a quiet day, down by the caost at scarborough, with a yorkshire voice, letting us know what he is doing.
The word boring is his own, not ours, but you should watch anyway. Lets have it for the breakdown cover man in Scarborough.

You will now need ot search for “scarborough, supramat tacho break” as the feed has been stopped.

The national breakdown cover companies are pretty much prepared for most things, but I am not sure you would be covered for something like this. I can see your insurance company paying for the recovery.

It looks like the truck was parked without the handbrake and so rolled in the lake. It took a diver to locate where it was and to connect a rope and a tractor vehicle to pull it out. Anther example of where many would laugh at some ones elses misfortune. On saying that, not sure I would park next to deep water and not make sure my car was secure.

Unfortunatly we cant show the video clip as it the code has been unbedded from You tube, probably the person was too embarressed to allow it to be used on other sites.

Go to Youtube and search for Underwater truck recovery.

We have all seen the radio joke calls, where the broadcaster or a friend rings up a local company live on air and asks some silly questions to get laughs from its listeners. Well this another one, but based on breakdown recovery.

The caller pretends to have rung the wrong number stating he wants help frpm a personal breakdown, bur obviously has rand a breakdown cover company. The person on the other end of the phone, is forced to take this seriously, not knowing it is a joke and keeps saying over again, he can’t help him, but ther is someone who can.

To be honest I did not find it that funny, and I think the person recieving the phone call did a great job and acted professionally, but of course you may have a different opinion. give it a listen and make your own mind up.

Here it the breakdown cover call, it sound english an it is a garage rather than a national breakdown cover company, he rings
