It has been quite a challnge recently regarding this breakdown cover blog. Ever since I introduced the catorgaries on the right hand side of here, my indexing of the pages have disapeared. I asumed I needed more links and worked harder but with no new results. Eventually tonight i found what might be the issue and that is duplicate content something Google does not like.
Think about it this way, the breakdown cover blog has articles on motoring, vehicle safety and breakdown cover etc, these posts are then put into catorgaries and well as filed under the month. So in this case the same post could be found on the home page, the month page and the category at the same time. Google sees this as duplicate content and so unishes the website.
So tonight i have changed a few things.
First, the index homepage and categories no longer shows the full post only and exert. Advice suggests that showing only a part of ut will work.
Second I will only save the exert in probably one of the categories again to seperate things out as much as I can.
Third, there will be posts, such as this one which does not need to fit into any category and so will leave whole, which will seperate the exerts too, making every page of the blog unique, or so that is the theory.
I am not aware of any other breakdown cover blogs, so in theory we should be number one on Google for the term breakdown cover blog, but we are not. Lets hope these changes help repair the issues of the last few months.
A bit more PR on the pages will also help the blog and the breakdown cover website.
