3. I won’t be able to get insurance as I have been involved in serious driving conviction
It’s true that speeding gets you more tickets leading to an increase in your premium. But accidents caused due to speeding leading to severe injury or worse, death is a serious crime. If you have been involved in a serious driving conviction then if may be possible for you to get insurance, but you will have to be patient and prepared to pay more. Usually these include drug or drink related offences, dangerous or careless driving offences and any other that can result in a ban on your driving. However, even minor offences like speeding tend to cause trouble. If you have been involved in any such offence then you pose a higher risk for insurance companies – this means a very expensive insurance cover, which can be over 25% more than the regular premium cost.
Your car insurance company may also limit the cover, such as being limited to a 3rd party fire and theft policy only or having to pay a higher excess in case of a claim. You will have to check with your insurer for exact details.
