Here are the Top Five common myths about car insurance. Avoid these pitfalls and make the ‘right’ decision.
5. I always end up paying high insurance – I’ll get insurance in someone else’s name this time!
A good idea. But not helpful. While you may think that getting insurance in someone else’s name can save you some money, it’s also true that insurance companies are already aware of this since many years. Haven’t you been asked how many cars are there in your house, how many drivers and who drivers which car? If you haven’t answered truthfully then you may find your insurance cover is invalid. Insurers’ decide the premium rates based on who has access to the car and for what period. A genuinely occasional driver may get the benefit of a lower premium.
But don’t give on this idea completely more so if you are an experienced driver. If you are proud about your blemish and accident-free driving record, and if you don’t have insurance in your own name, you can talk to the insurance company and they may still offer you an introductory or no-claim discount leaving you completely surprised!
