Well as the quieter time of year for breakdown cover hits us, Green Flag has an online deal that offers their basic Rescue deal from £27. (and not one perosn notice i had spelt rescue wrong within the title)
That is £27 for a whole year of breakdown cover, to get your car on its way, if it can be fixed by the roadside. Unlike traditional car insurance, you can compare this directly with the AA and the RAC, well get a better idea anyway .

Even those who would argue they cannot afford it, or it is not worth it, would consider changing their minds at this low price. Remember this does not give you full cover, but will get you on your way should you have a breakdown.

Most callouts are for things that can be fixed by the roadside and just require a bit of know how, the right parts and right tools. Even small things like a flat tyre, flat battery, broken fan belt or something loose that needs tightening can all be fixed at the roadside.

Things that normally can’t be fixed at the roadside, tend to be things like brakes, or large failures like your big ends, susupension etc. With these things you tend to get warning signals before they cease to work and of course most of us would see to this work before we went on any long journey. In the case of brakes, these should be seen to straight away, breakdown cover policy or not for safety reasons.
