breakdown cover

Every morning whether it is hot and sunny of -10 degrees below I see drivers with their windows down, elbows out of the window and a cigarette in hand. Well it seems it has now been added to the highway code as something you should not do whilst driving.
It has not been made illegal but it could allow the authorities to charge you for “carless driving” if it can be proved you were smoking at the time of an accident etc.

It isn’t just smoking that has been added to the “not good to do” list, there is eating whislt driving, drinking whilst driving and twenty or so more other things. In one way it does make sense that anything that takes your hands off the steering wheel or your gaze away from the road could be dangerous in certail situations, but you also may have to ask where do you stop?

No jokes in the car, no singing to the radio, no talking to your passenger, no asking your children what they want for tea? The list can go on and on. Lets hope this is the end of the advice and it is all just focuses on common sense, something we know some drivers do not have.
