Being Distracted When You Drive

Many business see advertising along our busy roads as a worthwhile marketing campaign. But many see these as a major distraction and one that can cause accidents.

The truth is, if a bill board is being read then he road is not. It is illegal to read as you drive yet it is quiet legal to have these distractions in the agreed areas.

Recently though in the North East, farmers have been asked to take down some adverting boards that are on their land near to the roads. the farmers saw these as a way for extra income from their land. But due to accidents on that road it was mentioned that these billboards were distracting drivers so the police have asked the farmers to take them down.

You can't help thinking about the billboards within the USA and the impact on business if it became law to take down anything that can could catch you eye whist driving.

But do they distract to the point of an accident and to what extent do they distract. Clearly reading several sentences can distract you, but does one sentence/ Does that mean we cant have any warning signs that use words, like for this location take this exit off.

What is interesting though is that advertisers clearly think that drivers remember what they see on these roadside catchers as long as it takes to get home or they would not do it.
