We don't pretend also to be journalists or specialists in this area. All we wish to do is to give you your options in one place so you can decide for yourself. Hopefully this blog will enhance that experience for you.
Old Breakdown Cover Stories
It has been reported in the Financial Mail that the AA is preparing to be sold off. They are preparing a financial health check to establsh a share price.
I now hear that because of the potential bombing alerts, British holidays are back in fashion. Those who had planned a late getaway hve now resorted to getting their cars and seeing what the UK has to offer. Of course there does seem to be one exception and that is London. The country cavaran and holiday parks are filling up and doing roaring trade, but good old London is struggling to get more visitors.
I write this in sunny Spain after watching the news reports of the security threat in the UK for flights crossing the atlantic. It is an interest to me as we had just flown 24 hrs before the airport restrictions were enforced and serious delays hit the UK airports. Ironically my holiday neighbors had driven down from the UK and expressed how easy it was to drive and probably quicker under the current conditions.
OK this is a semi motoring web site and I know it's not directly related but as a F1 fan I could not hide my excitement as Jenson Button crosses the line to his first Formula One victory. This is the first British driver victory since David Coulthard won in Australia 3 years ago. The motoring organisations have a history on motor sport but alas not in the big leagues in 2006. RAC have a history with the early Formula one racing but more recently, are more related to rallying and up to recent years were the main sponsor of the "RAC Rally". Green Flag had a history with saloon car racing, but that championship is not mainly sponsored by dunlop the tyre manufacturers.
This summer has seen more TV adverts than ever, or either I eat, drink and sleep the subject. I couldn't have a webblog and not discuss them. The AA advert consists of hundreds of singers, the RAC advert you are forced to look for the price and the Green Flag advert you get see a toy breakdown truck. Normally a winter product as cars which were normally reliable decide they no-longer want to start in the cold or wet. The motoring organisation shave obviously decided that we all need cover for our holidays, whether it is towing a caravan, camping or just touring in general. The channel tunnel and ferries will of course be packed with holiday makers crossing the channel into Europe.
So from now on this webblog or web blo will have a different format with the tile written into the page. You will see what I mean when I write next.
I did not know what to expect when I started to blog a bit, but trying to find good quality content to write about very day is harder than I thought, so now blogging will be as and when there is information to talk about. All about elephants, bird poo and Norman Wisdom. Seems the RAC only offers recovery as a sideline.
Aviva sells parts of its RAC breakdown cover operation
They only bought it just over a year ago. But it looks like at least part of the RAC has been sold again.
The never ending story of fuel prices increasing once again. It wouldn't happen in the USA or some European countries
Fake camera slows down traffic
The story of a villager slowing down his local traffic by putting up a fake speed camera.
I didn't realise i would have to work back to front. Normally the latest information would go at the bottom, but these blogs work the opposite way around with the latest information at the top.
USA words V UK words
Have you noticed the difference between USA terms and UK terns we have for motoring or the cars themselves. I didn't realise how much, until I figured out, those in the USA did not know what breakdown cover was.Welcome to the new breakdown cover web blog 26/4/2006
Well every one else is blogging away. Why not have a blog as well? This my first attempt at it so i hope it goes well.
We have seen the adverts on TV where the patrol
man, gets the bride to church, just on time, or the nudist who has locked his
keys in his car and the school pupil who refuses to get out of the car. Well I
am sure these amusing things do actually occur with more frequency than we would
like to admit. If you have any amusing r related stories to tell,
why not send me an email from the contact page, and I will see if I can publish
them on this site.
If you happen to be a patrolman, even better,
why not tell us what you do each day the good and the bad. I once did a story on
a patrol man I met, it went down well on a publishing site, so why not email me
your stories.
Also if you are from the USA or Canada, what do they call
this type of service over there and how does the service offered differ from us
across the pond.
